Celebrating this season with your family in the Southern California area is quite exciting. From San Diego to Orange County, there are a lot of ways to have a good time! If you're ready to celebrate fall SoCal style, here are five of the best activities in your area for you and your family!

1.) Create a Hallo-rific Pumpkin.

One of the most popular fall activities for the family is carving and decopumpkin-84687_1920.jpgrating pumpkins! With many unique ideas from the melted crayon effect, glow in the dark paint, or mastering the classic jack-o-lantern, picking out the perfect pumpkin is a must-do this fall! The great things about planning
a trip to your local pumpkin patch, like the Pumpkin Station in San Diego, is how they usually have even more activities like kiddie rides, a petting zoo, and a shop where you can buy local grown, homemade food you can only get your hands on this season!

2.) Harvest Delicious Apples.

Whether you enjoy a cold cup of apple cider or have been craving to put grandma's famous apple pie recipe to work, taking the family on an apple-picking adventure is a great way to kill two birds with one stone as you also get a nutritious snack out of it! Beyond that, seeking out an event like the Julian Fall Apple Harvest, you'll be able to embrace the fall foliage, take a journey through time by learning the town's history, and rest your legs with a hay ride!

3.) Freak out with Halloween-Theme Festivals and Corn-Mazes.

Thrills and chills are in the air with all Hallows Eve upon us and that's where fright fairs and getting lost in corn-mazes come to shine. Southern California has a variety of events from the Piece College Farm Center's scream park to the Field of Dreams inspired maze at the Fall Festival in Temecula and the fun doesn't stop there. Many of these events have numerous more ways to increase the fun meter with races, face painting, bounce houses, and haunted hay rides.

4.) Engage in Fall-Specific Events.

Diving deeper into everything this season has to offer, there are even more fantastic places to venture to for an epic time. Lego lovers will get a kick out of LEGOLAND's Brick-or-Treat Party Nights which are held every Saturday in October with fireworks, live music, and costume contests. If you've been scarecrow-314383_1280.jpglooking for an exciting reason to visit SeaWorld, what better time than now with their Halloween Spooktacular that involves animal meet and greets, a Halloween countdown, holiday-related shows and more! Or if you're all football fans, why not go out and support the Chargers at the Qualcomm Stadium?

5.) Embrace the Free Side of the Season.

For the frugal family who yearns for an awesome time together without emptying their wallet, engaging in a family hike or a fall picnic are excellent options as well. Orange County has some of the best trails that are quite easy for the little ones to handle like Bear Canyon in San Juan or East Cut in Irvine. Just make sure to pack all the essentials before sliding on your hiking boots and heading out the door. Or if you're park-bound you will enjoy the 10 acres of redwoods at Carbon Canyon Regional Park or perhaps watching the sunset at Corona Del Mar State Beach is more your forte. Just don't forget to bring an old blanket and a wicker basket and thermoses full of warm soup and hot beverages.

Autumn in the SoCal area is where it's at and with these fall-inspired activities, you'll definitely have an unforgettable season with the ones you love. Which activity are you most excited to try? For more on making memories with your family and living the military life, be sure to visit our blog!
